ABOUT OUR SNAP WORK
Met Council can offer New Yorkers improved access to crucial anti-hunger programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamps. At Jewish Community Councils and community service locations across New York City, specialists can screen clients for eligibility and facilitate the submission of their application to the City of New York, in real time through the City's online platform, Access HRA.
In addition to eligibility screenings and application assistance, Met Council can help participants with their recertification and certain case management requirements.
HEALTH INSURANCE ASSISTANCE
We can help you sign up or recertify for NYS of Health (Marketplace), HRA Medicaid, and NYC Care. We can also give you advice for what program works best for you. Our services include:

NYC FREE TAX HELP
New Yorkers that earned $85,000 or less with dependents or $59,000 or less without dependents, can file their taxes for free. IRS-certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) filers are available to help the community (virtually) for free; helping them keep their whole refund.
We are offering free tax preparation at five sites, 4 in South Brooklyn and 1 in Far Rockaway, Queens. They include:
