Speaker Quinn New York City Electeds Package Food for Met Council Clients
New York City elected officials have shown their support for Met Council and our clients this holiday season by packaging and handing out food at many of our Rosh Hashanah food distributions. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, New York City Comptroller John Liu, Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi, City Councilmember Peter Koo and New York State Senator Toby Stavisky have all pitched in to make a happy and healthy new year for the 15,000 individuals that receive help through Met Council’s Kosher Food Network each month.

250 Students Received New Backpacks With Supplies
Thanks to a generous donation from Jeff and Susan Goldstein, hundreds of low-income kids will go back to school in style this year with brand-new backpacks stuffed with pencils, notebooks, calculators and other goodies.  A group of volunteers from Brooklyn Technical High School's Key Club gave their time to stuff the backpacks and prepare them for delivery to our local Jewish Community Councils.

Thank you to our donors and volunteers for helping these kids have a great back-to-school experience!

Goldman Sachs’ Volunteers Join Met Council in Fighting the Effects of Poverty
Community TeamWorks, Goldman Sachs’ volunteer program, was excited to partner with Met Council again this year to participate in two valuable community service projects. At the Riverdale Jewish Center, Goldman Sachs employees spent time cooking a delicious kosher dinner for homebound seniors. Another group of volunteers refurbished and redecorated a community room in one of Met Council’s housing sites. Watch the video to hear how much Community TeamWorks enjoyed volunteering with Met Council!
